This was among several decisions taken during a meeting with AGMs and DGMs in the CEB.

It has also been decided to regulate the fixing of street lamps & operating street lamps.

Meanwhile, outsourced services are to be done with existing staff and work that cannot be completed by the CEB are to be done with the assistance of Local Councils.

The Electricity Reforms Bill will be drafted within a month to begin the Unbundling process of CEB & work on a rapid timeline to get the approval of the Parliament needed, he adds.

Tweeting, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said : “If rain continues to the catchment areas, CEB will keep the power cuts to a minimum. However CEB will manage the water resources available for future power generation.”
